Postdoctoral Fellowship: Cross-Border Commercialisation of Materials Research : Denmark
Fellowship for those students who have an interest in research commercialization and regional development, familiar with the physics, Denmark
Job Description: Following a proof-of-concept phase, which is being completed, the candidate will in line with the aims of Interreg and ØMIC, develop this technology into a cross-border materials research business case, by means of which new practice and experiences will actively and continuously be shared with actors on both the Swedish and Danish sides of Øresund.
The Materials Research Division at Risø DTU has a longstanding tradition of materials research and its commercialisation, and is defined by strong relations with industry. With MaxLab and the establishment of ESS in Lund, Sweden, there is a rapidly increasing need to pull resources relating to materials research in Øresund closer together in order to achieve successful deployment and commercialisation of technologies.
As an important case, the group at Risø DTU has recently patented an X-ray nano-detector, which is based on InP technology and fast electronics. The area detector is intended for imaging or microscopy of materials in 2D or 3D. The spatial resolution is to be 100 nm, which is 1-2 orders of magnitude better than any existing detector in this energy range. At the same time the detector is very small and near 100% efficient. Prime applications are foreseen in the areas of medicine (visualising cells) and materials testing, and first customers would be large research facilities like ?MaxLab in Lund.
Qualifications
The candidate should
* have a Ph.D. degree or equivalentin physics, chemistry, nanoscience or similar
* have an interest in research commercialisation and regional development
* be familiar with the physics of detector technology and readout electronics
* be able to work independently and efficiently and take responsibility for the progress and quality of projects
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The position is for two years. the place of work is Risø DTU in Roskilde.
