Registration for the higher education scholarship programme of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) for the academic year 2010/11 has started.

The Council is keen to provide the best means of material and moral support and to provide outstanding opportunities for outstanding students to continue Talmehm university for the benefit of them and their homeland, The Council is seeking the Abu Dhabi education through the scholarship program to meet labor market needs and the provision of qualified cadres UAE has academic and professional competency to contribute to meeting the requirements of government institutions and parastatals in the emirate.

The scholarship aims to provide financial support to top graduating students to pursue university education in electronic engineering, aerospace engineering, architecture, mechanical engineering, material sciences, economics, accounting, finance and medicine.

The programme is open to Emirati students who have scored 85 per cent and above on their General Secondary Certificate or its equivalent at private schools. University students who are already majoring in these subjects, and who have completed 30 credit hours while maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA are also eligible to apply.

The scholarship will enable selected students to study within the UAE at internationally accredited institutions. In addition to university tuitions, scholars will also receive a monthly allowance.

Applicants will undergo a stringent process and selected students are expected to continue to achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 throughout their university study.
